Drayton was declared “Baseball Capital of North Dakota” in 1958 by Governor John Davis.

Drayton won the high school baseball championship every year from 1958 to 1963.  No other North Dakota town has come close to winning six state championships in a row.

Drayton also won Class A American Legion state championship in 1958 and in 1962, and in 1958 won the multi-state regional championship.  Doing so made Drayton the smallest town to win both the Class A state title and the regional title.
